Modern u.s. history
A survey course covering U.S. history from post-Civil War Reconstruction to the present, and the course I have the most experience teaching.
Global cities
A seminar course for upper-division undergraduates and graduate students that examines the growth of world cities from a historical perspective.
early american history
A survey course covering North American history from the pre-Columbian era (i.e., pre-1492) to Reconstruction after the Civil War.
u.s. Sport history
A survey course on the political, economic, social, and cultural history of sport in the U.S., with an emphasis on urban topics/themes (esp. stadiums).
gis for historians
An introductory undergraduate course on the use of maps and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software in historical research.
Facts & Evidence
An undergraduate intro. to qualitative and quantitative research methods used by historians in which students design their own research proposals.
